After addressing some critical issues over the past week, we are pleased to announce that the Session Testnet has been launched today!

The Network: The testnet Session Network is running and maintaining consensus using the Arbitrum Sepolia and Oxen stagenet blockchain.

Staking Portal: The Staking Portal is live, with staking functionality locked while the team monitors the systems during this initial phase.

Block Explorer: You can also explore the testnet via the block explorer. No blocks are being produced right now, but will be as more nodes are added by the team to the network tomorrow.

Testnet Incentive Program: From July 16, in one week’s time, eligible Session Community members will be able to run single contributor testnet Session Nodes with test SENT. Full documentation for community members to operate their own testnet Session Nodes will be provided, with functionality and documentation for running and staking to multi-contributor testnet nodes following afterwards.

Preparing for the Testnet Incentive Program

Here’s how you can prepare for the Testnet Incentive Program launch on July 16, 2024. During the first phase, only pre-existing community members will have access to the Testnet Incentive Program.

Claim Test SENT

Head to the Session Testnet faucet to get test SENT tokens.

Each eligible wallet can use the faucet to make a one-time claim of 240 test SENT. Faucet usage limits may be subject to change. The amount for a full stake for a testnet Session Node will be 120 test SENT.

You will need test ETH on the Arbitrum Sepolia network to use as gas for all test SENT transactions. If you don't have any, this faucet will top up your Arbitrum Sepolia test ETH balance to up to 0.001 test ETH. You can also get test ETH from an Arbitrum Sepolia faucet.

Confirm your eligibility

If you were part of the Session Token Community Snapshot on June 12, 2024, you are eligible to participate. Connect to Discord or Telegram, and then connect your wallet or enter your wallet address manually. If eligible, you can claim test SENT, which will be sent to your wallet address. If you registered for the Oxen Session Node Bonus program by June 12, 2024, the wallet address/es you registered with will also be eligible to receive test SENT. Connect your wallet or enter your wallet address manually to claim test SENT.

Not eligible?

Session Testnet and its Incentive Program is currently closed to the public, and only community members who were part of the snapshot can access test SENT right now. We will be inviting new users to join the Session Testnet in the future. Learn more here.

Explore the Staking Portal

Full documentation for community members to operate their own testnet Session Nodes will be provided, with functionality and documentation for running and staking to multi-contributor testnet nodes following afterwards. Until then, feel free to play around with the Staking Portal to get used to the interface.

Have questions or need help?

A dedicated section of the Session Token Discord server for Testnet information and support has been created. Please drop any questions you have into the #testnet-help forum so that the team can assist you.

We appreciate your support and are looking forward to welcoming you to the Session Testnet next week on July 16th!

A note on network names

Testing the new Session Network encompasses multiple networks. These include:

Devnet, an internal testing environment used by the Session team with bleeding edge changes that is for active unstable-development on the network.

Stagenet, a semi-open testing environment with nodes used by both the Session team and, soon, the Session Token community, that are registered using Arbitrum smart contracts and monitor Arbitrum and commit consensus onto the Oxen appchain. This is the network we currently refer to as Session Testnet.

Testnet, a testing environment with nodes running on the Oxen blockchain that migrates onto Arbitrum, monitors Arbitrum and commits consensus onto the Oxen appchain. This network will be used to simulate the Oxen Service Node migration to the mainnet Session Network closer to TGE.

Now get out there, break some stuff, earn some tokens, and have some fun.
