Groups v2 Is Here 👪

It’s official—Groups v2 is here, and Session’s contributors stuck the landing. The biggest upgrade to Session’s group chat system ever is now live and in action, enabling better Groups with a completely reworked backend architecture.

The rollout is complete, and the transition was smooth, with minimal disruption for Session users. No major issues were encountered following the release, and the upgraded experience is already making an impact—delivering faster, more stable, and more dependable group messaging across the board, with a suite of new features in store.

Now that the switch is complete, all newly created groups are powered by the new Groups v2 architecture. If you haven’t already, be sure to recreate any existing groups you administrate using the ‘Recreate Group’ button, which you’ll find in your old group chats. All legacy groups will become read-only on April 2 @ 22:00 UTC—so update now if you haven’t already.

This release sets the foundation for many new features for Groups on Session, with stuff like group descriptions, multiple admins, ONS invites, advanced moderation tools, and more all on the horizon.

Linking Up With Legion ⚔️

Session is officially coming to Legion—a platform purpose-built for community-driven token launches. Legion offers a new model for fundraising, one that prioritizes alignment, contribution, and conviction over capital alone. That makes it a natural fit for Session, a project grounded in decentralization and driven by purpose.

Session is built on the belief that truly sovereign communication requires truly decentralized infrastructure. Just as Session’s architecture reflects its values, so too should its approach to fundraising. Legion’s merit-based system makes space for a broad group of additional contributors who believe in Session, not just those with deep pockets.

It’s very exciting to be able to share this partnership with you guys! Check out the announcement here.

Don’t forget to set a reminder to find out first when Session goes live on Legion. You can also join the SESH community on Legion here.

Staking Portal Upgrades 🌀

The staking portal has received a triple-whammy of upgrades, with a series of releases aimed at improving speed, usability, and flexibility.

WebSocket backend integration means faster, real-time updates across the portal—making actions like registration feel snappier and more responsive.

⚙️ User preference options are being built out, including options to auto-refresh data and display the L2 block height in the status bar.

🧼 UI improvements continue, this time with dynamic text sizing make the portal feel cleaner and more polished, especially when navigating between modules.

These changes lay the groundwork for a smoother, faster, and more customizable staking experience. Thanks to all testnet operators and contributors whose continued dedication to testing these upgrades makes it all possible 🫡

See My Vest 🦺

A new Vesting Mode is currently in testing on the Staking Portal. This mode allows users with vesting contracts on mainnet to easily stake their time-locked tokens and withdraw them after the lockup period is completed. Beta testing on testnet will commence today, with testnet users invited to share feedback on the interface and user experience.

Preparing Interactive Hero Assets 🦸

Session’s contributors have been putting the finishing touches on optimising a set of 3D interactive assets for the Session Token website. These animated visuals are designed to bring the site to life—adding depth, movement, and a touch of flair to key areas of the site: the landing page and the staking portal.

These assets are all about making the website more engaging, more compelling, and more fun to explore—creating a standout experience that feels as dynamic as Session itself. Here’s a sneak peak 👀
